What I'm Watching
Down to Earth (Netflix)
A documentary series which revolves around Zac Efron and his travels across the world. Efron visits France, Puerto Rico, London, Iceland, Costa Rica, Peru and Sardinia, and focuses on themes of travel, life experience, nature, green energy and sustainable living practices. It's neat to see what's going on around the world in terms of different sustainable practices and it's nice to see sustainability in main stream media.

What I Learnt this Week—
Upcycling Carbon Emissions into Construction Materials
A group of Architects started using a 200 year old traditional hand crafting technique to upcycle broken marble chips, carbon emissions & marble powder into beautifully modern building tiles. An awesome and creative solution to help with air pollution.

What I'm Checking Out —
Nooks & Crannies Festival Okotoks
Downtown Okotoks will be filled with the creativity of local artists using recycled products to create imaginative art installations. The art pieces intend to raise environmental awareness, animate spaces, and entertain audiences. Viewing of these pieces is available until August 22.

The festival is entering its second year and will feature 17 art installations created by approximately 25 artists who are from Okotoks and Calgary.

Last year’s festival featured 10 artists from Okotoks and Calgary who used re-purposed materials to liven up eight hidden corners of downtown, in partnership with 12 Okotoks businesses. Environmental awareness and sustainability are key themes in this festival, and the materials used in all installations will be recyclable items from the Okotoks Eco Centre or provided by the artist.

App I'm Using —
AllTrails
Hiking, biking and running may just be some of the best things to do right now and this free app is really helpful if you're looking to conquer a new route. When you open up the app it lists the top trails nearby, best views nearby, trails less traveled or if you're looking for information on a specific trail you can enter the hike name into the top. When you bring up a specific hike it will list everything you need to know about the hike including: length, elevation gain, reviews from other hikers, photos of the trail and more! Give it a whirl. August's Tip —
Ecosia is a search engine like Google but better because it plants a tree every time you use it! Their servers run on 100% renewable energy, and every search request removes CO2 from the atmosphere. Make sure you set your default search engine to Ecosia.

It was so great to see everyone's faces at our last BUD CLUB! A big thank you to the bee godfather Ron Miksha who shared with us his vast bee knowledge. Here is a snap from the session:

That's about it for me. If you have any feedback, a favourite part or suggestion you'd like to share about the above please let me know. Have a wonderful week and let's keep creating a green future together.

The future is bright,
